Arisa Chinen

Born in 1987 in Kanagawa. Based in Tokyo.

Chinen’s works are an accumulation of “drawings” with a certain delicateness and naivety. It focuses on the beauty overlooked in the fast moving contemporary society and its contradictions. Through the repetitive manual labor such as stippling and string art, Chinen continually attempts to capture the moment of “now”.
Chinen has finished her study in Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts and holds a doctor’s degree. Currently she works as a research assistant at Graduate School of Global Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts.
